Level 1

Entry Support Worker

New to care

Core focus
Direct care delivery
Entry requirements
We recruit based on values and potential, not prior experience. Comprehensive training included.
Development qualifications
Working towards completing your induction workbook, achieving successful probation, and beginning the Care Certificate.
Key competencies
Basic care skills, safeguarding, record keeping, relationship building, communication.
Support provided
Regular supervision, peer mentoring, foundational training programme.
Key criteria for progression
Completion of mandatory training and successful completion of probation. Commencement of the Care Certificate.

Level 2

Experienced Support Worker

Building confidence

Core focus
Direct care delivery with contracted hours
Entry requirements
Six months of care experience and completion of the Care Certificate, including safe lone working.
Development qualifications
Introduction to clinical and complex care skills, including CPI training and other role-specific modules.
Key competencies
Safe care delivery, accurate recording, confident lone working, and developing clinical skills.
Support provided
Regular supervision, support from senior staff and a Registered General Nurse, and ongoing training.
Key criteria for progression
Achievement of Care Certificate competencies. Minimum of 6 months’ experience, including evidence of safe lone working.

Level 3

Complex/ Clinical Baseline

Specialist development

Core focus
Direct care delivery to individuals with complex or clinical needs
Entry requirements
Demonstrated competence in specialist procedures including PEG management, tracheostomy care, and buccal medication administration.
Development qualifications
Opportunity for Train the Trainer and progression toward NVQ Level 3.
Key competencies
Safe delivery of clinical and complex care and early specialist development.
Support provided
Clinical supervision and guided practice to build confidence.
Key criteria for progression
Completion of specialised training (CPI, buccal/midazolam, medication, tracheostomy, PEG feeding). Begin specialist focus areas.

Level 4

Service Lead

Supporting quality

Core focus
Direct care delivery with additional responsibilities including spot checks, rota support and audits
Entry requirements
Train the Trainer completed and NVQ Level 3 or equivalent.
Development qualifications
Further development in leadership and quality monitoring.
Key competencies
Ability to manage operational checks, audits and family liaison tasks.
Support provided
Leadership guidance and regular supervision as responsibilities expand.
Key criteria for progression
Completion of Train the Trainer across all areas. Achievement of NVQ Level 3 or equivalent qualification.

Level 5

Specialist roles

Compliance, rota & training

Core focus
Ensuring regulatory standards, coordinating staffing, or delivering training
Entry requirements
Understanding of compliance expectations, ability to manage complex rotas, or experience across varied care settings.
Development qualifications
Compliance, CQC framework, auditing training, or Level 3 Award in Education and Training (AET).
Key competencies
Accurate quality checking, scheduling, or clear communication and engaging training delivery.
Support provided
Support from compliance, quality leads, operational oversight, or leadership supervision and mentoring.
Key criteria for progression
Demonstrated knowledge of standards, consistently accurate work, and completion of relevant training.

Level 6

Service Manager

Leading operations

Core focus
Supervision, rostering, service oversight, day-to-day management, and compliance
Entry requirements
Leadership training completed with a Level 4 qualification or equivalent.
Development qualifications
Further leadership development linked to service oversight.
Key competencies
Effective supervision, oversight and decision-making.
Support provided
Leadership supervision and mentoring.
Key criteria for progression
Completion of leadership training and demonstrated evidence of effective team performance. Achievement of Level 4 qualification.

Level 7

Registered Manager

Strategic leadership

Core focus
Regulatory requirements, safe and effective person-centred care across adult social care settings
Entry requirements
Significant experience within adult social care, typically progressed from senior or deputy roles.
Development qualifications

Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management or equivalent.

Key competencies
Strategic leadership, compliance, staffing, finances, quality, and governance.
Support provided
Senior leadership network and strategic development opportunities.
Key criteria for progression
Demonstrates readiness to take full responsibility for service delivery, leadership and compliance.
